Stonington Institute, a division of one of the nation’s largest and most respected hospital companies, Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), has an immediate opening for a full and part-time Physician Assistant.

Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas.  We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location.  Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients. We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides client evaluation, diagnostic assessment, medication management and treatment, and follow-up to clients under direction and supervision of Chief Medical Officer
• Participates in process and program quality improvement initiatives to improve care for clients
• Participates in client case conferences and departmental/organizational meetings, as directed
• Impacts client experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
• Completes client medical record documentation according to Stonington Institute’s policies and procedures
• Shares accountability for overall client health outcomes by working in coordination with Clinical Care Team

• Graduate degree from a Physician Assistant Program
• Current Connecticut Physician Assistant License
• Knowledge of mental health/substance abuse conditions and best practices for treatment
• Well-developed listening and interview skills to explore client needs and administer treatment plans
• Strong verbal communication skills to counsel and advise clients
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective treatment plans
• Coaching skills to help clients make positive changes
